Cotopaxi / Hacienda (2D)
In this Ecuador tour 2 day extension you will have the opportunity to witness the Cotopaxi Volcano and enjoy Ecuador’s highland hacienda culture. The Cotopaxi National Park is an ecological sanctuary of 36,000 hectares (88,920 acres), especially attractive for nature lovers, with the treeless vegetation of the Andean moorlands or páramo. It is home to the highest active volcano in the world. We spend this first day hiking in the area enjoying the magnificent views and scenery. In the evening we will stay at one of Ecuador’s historical and charming haciendas in the region (Hacienda La Ciénega or similar). The next day we will be visiting a small village famous for its local market. Later in the afternoon we will return to Quito.

Cotopaxi / Hacienda (2 Day)
DAY 1: QUITO – COTOPAXI NATIONAL PARK – HACIENDA
Cotopaxi Accommodations
Today we start our adventure and drive south through the “Avenue of Volcanoes” viewing the spectacular high plains that surround Cotopaxi, the world’s highest active volcano at 19,225 ft (5,770m). In the park we may see herds of llamas, wild horses, and perhaps deer, rabbits, the Andean gull, several species of hummingbirds and with some luck, the Andean condor. In the late afternoon we arrive to our charming and historical Hacienda. (B,L,D)
DAY 2: HACIENDA – LOCAL MARKET – QUITO
In the morning after breakfast we will have a chance to visit a typical indigenous local market. This excursion includes a visit to an Indian market of the area (depending on the day of the week) , the handicraft center of the potteries of La Victoria and time to explore the countryside and small towns surrounding the Hacienda La Ciénega. Late afternoon return to Quito. Transfer to Airport for your flight home or add an extra night to enjoy more of Quito. (B,L)
