Last Hope Sound Cruise (2D)
An adventurous and scenic way to access Torres del Paine from the Last Hope Sound. You must come one night ahead of any of our regular trips and spend the night in Puerto Natales. Early the next morning, you embark on a ship that sails (3-4hrs) across Last Hope Strait to the Balmaceda & Serrano hanging glacier. Here you will board zodiac boats and ride up Serrano River towards Torres del Paine’s spectacular mountains. Arrive in the Park around 6 PM and get transferred to EcoCamp where you will join your regular itinerary.
NOTE – The Last Hope Sound tour extension can be added a day before your Torres del Paine Patagonia tour.
Itinerary
Last Hope Sound Cruise (2D)
DAY 1 PUNTA ARENAS – PUERTO NATALES
This extension starts in Punta Arenas (either at airport or hotel). After the guide meets you either at the airport or our local hotel and gives us a quick briefing on the days to come, you will be taken to the bus station for your public bus transfer to Puerto Natales (3hrs). Taking the bus through the scenic Patagonian landscape we arrive to the quaint town of Puerto Natales on the edge of Last Hope Sound where you will be met by a local representative and taken to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore this picturesque town (meals on your own). (B)
If wanting to start the trip from Calafate (optional) our local representative will meet you at your hotel to give you details about transport arrangements and they will leave you ready to take the early public bus going to Puerto Natales. You will be arriving in Puerto Natales about 2 pm and then the itinerary will continue as described above.
DAY 2 PUERTO NATALES (Last Hope Sound Sailing) – ECO CAMP (or Other)
Board the 7AM catamaran (70 people capacity) through Ultima Esperanza Fjord (Last Hope Sound) and reach Serrano and Balmaceda glaciers. Box lunch overlooking the glaciers. Around 3 PM embark zodiac boats (8-10 people capacity) and sail upstream the tranquil Serrano River. Reach Rio Serrano waterfalls, disembark and walk gently around the falls. We then board twin boats upstream the falls and reach the Park Administration. Transfer to the Eco Camp, Explora or Hosteria Las Torres, meet the group arriving from Punta Arenas, and start your Torres del Paine adventure. (B,L,D)

ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Starting / Finishing Points: The trip starts on day 1 in Punta Arenas Airport. The trip finishes on day 2 at EcoCamp Patagonia, located in Torres del Paine NP. On day 2, pick up time at hotel 7:30 am; arrive at EcoCamp at 6 pm. Times will be confirmed locally.
Weather: The vast unbroken stretch of ocean to the west and south of the South American continent leaves the Patagonian Andes very exposed to the saturated winds that circle the Antarctic landmass. Also, both the strong marine and the South Patagonic Ice field influence make the weather hard to predict. In spring or early summer fine weather may deteriorate almost without warning, bringing rains and eventually snow. Even in summer (December to march) you should come prepared to find cold- strong winds (up to 130 km/hr) and rainfalls. The summer’s average temperature is 11ºC/52ºF (24ºCmax, 2ºC min).
