Travel through the highlands of Ecuador to tour the world famous market in Otavalo. Bargain for colorful weavings, textiles and clothing with local Otavaleños in a valley located deep in the Andes Mountains. In this Otavalo 2 Day tour you will meet a local family for a private weaving demonstration and see first hand how this ancient art form is still crafted today. Stay in one of Ecuador’s charming highland haciendas. You will have the opportunity to visit small villages, meet expert leather craftsmen or discover one of Ecuador’s most beautiful lakes. This is an experience that is filled with Ecuadorian culture, history and amazing Andean scenery.

Otavalo Market (2 Day)
DAY 1: QUITO – OTAVALO
Otavalo Accommodations
Traveling north from Quito you reach Calderon, famous for its hand-made bread-dough figures. Continue along the valleys of Guayllabamba and Cayambe, with their dairy farms and flower plantations. Arrive at one of the charming country inns or colonial haciendas where you will spend the night (see description below). Visit the town of San Antonio de Ibarra, famous for the woodcarvings, the town of Cotacachi, an entire town dedicated to selling fine leather products, and the town of Peguche where textiles are woven in old-fashioned shuttle looms. Overnight in charming Otavalo. (B,L,D)
DAY 2: OTAVALO – QUITO
The second day have an early start at the handicraft market of Otavalo, piled high with ponchos, woolen goods, tapestries, the original “Panama” hat, sweaters, Indian jewelry and many handicrafts. Accommodations and all meals are included. On the return trip, a stop is made for a coffee break at one of the haciendas of the Cayambe area. Late afternoon return to Quito. Transfer to Airport for your flight home or add an extra night to enjoy more of Quito. (B,Snack)
